About This Site

Welcome to Not So Lost In Translation, the personal blog of Susi Doyle.

I have been blogging in one form or another since 2005. Not So Lost In Translation started as a blog to encourage adult language learners. While I still focus on foreign language learning, I also blog about productivity, writing, and travel.

About Me

I am a book nerd, foodie, and travel lover from southwestern Virginia.

I first got bit by the language bug when I was eleven. I had to do a report on a country for Geography class. Since my favorite movie was The Sound of Music, I chose Austria. I soon realized that I would need to learn German in order to achieve my goal of becoming a singing nun living in the Alps.

Despite changing target careers, I kept studying German and graduated with a German minor. Along the way, I also started to study Japanese.

After starting to work full time, I became obsessed with productivity and systems thinking. Instead of giving up on one of my interests, I dedicated myself to finding ways to pursue my interests in the spare time that I had. Not So Lost In Translation is my platform where I share my tips and hacks as well as encouragement for other busy professionals, travelers, and lifelong learners.

As the daughter of two travel addicts, I am constantly planning my next small or large trip.  In addition to traveling abroad, I encourage others to travel where you live and follow your road wherever it takes you.
